Ah the bomber jacket. It makes an appearance every spring. It’s an ideal staple jacket for the season. A leather(ish) jacket is perfect for filling the gap between needing a full winter coat and being able to head out in just a blazer.
This brown P.U. bomber jacket is from Forever21.
The navy dress is from Mango. I really like pairing a brown bomber and brown boots with navy. The cream stripes at the hem and sleeves are a nice addition to what would otherwise be a plain dress. This is a simple but versatile dress. I can dress it up with a blazer and court shoes for a smarter look or keep it casual like I have done here. It’s an ideal outfit for a day of retail therapy as it’s easy to get in and out of for quickly trying clothes on: no zips or buttons to be faffing about with.
This necklace is from Awear. I like the way it takes the bare look off my chest and adds a pop of colour to the outfit.
I’m loving these Marco Tozi boots. They are so comfortable and have been getting loads of wear all winter and will continue to feature through out spring (when it happens).
My local Pennys has a Rimmel London stand right at the entrance to where you queue for the till. Yup, they know exactly what they are doing, catching suckers like me every time. Since the new Kate Moss Salon Pro range that I’ve been reading about in a few other blogs lately is not available till late April, I settled on this little beauty.
I love green, especially teal green. Ladies it doesn’t need to be Paddy’s day to wear your green. This colour is bright but not too “hey it’s spring” because it doesn’t feel like spring: it’s freekin birr out. Sea Green is from the Lycra Pro Professional Finish range. These promise a long lasting, chip resistant and anti-fade colour that will last up to 10 days.
It took two coats for full opacity. It has a brilliant wide brush that’s not too soft or too firm, which makes it easy to apply. There is nothing worse than a really thin and soft, flimsy brush. I didn’t use any top coat with this. The finish is nice and shiny, but I’m not expecting to get ten days out of this mani. I been to the jacks once and I already have a scratch . A nail polish’s ability to survive pulling your trousers down and back up is a true testament to its durability; especially if they are super skinny jeans.
So it won’t last long but I’m fine with that because it’s €5.95 and quick and easy to apply and I already have another polish lined up for the weekend.
On a recent trip to Boots I picked up this Bourjois Contour Clubbing Waterproof Eyeliner in Purple Night (€6.59) as part of a 3 for 2 deal. (Boots 3 for 2 is like a beauty bloggers Bermuda Triangle; where many a woman gets lost for hours.) I had been on the lookout for it after reading a few reviews especially this Lovely Girlie Bits one, and since I am quite partial to purple eye makeup, there was no hesitation when I spotted it.
I agree with Karen in loving the packaging. Purple with metallic teal are a fabulous colour combination. As for the liner itself: it’s lovely to use. It’s very pigmented and glides on easily without tugging or dragging the skin, and it is very creamy and smooth. There is a hint of metallic teal shimmer shot trough the purple liner for added interest, which really makes green eyes pop.
I wore Purple Night out Saturday night and here is how I used it.
First we have a picture of Purple Night lightly lining my water and tight line
Then I blended it outside the upper and lower lash lines
Next I blended MAC Fireside into the crease
Then I covered the lid with MAC Satin Taupe
A little highlight in the inner corner and some mascara and I’m good to go. Now I could have went a bit heavier with the liner for a more dramatic look, but I choose to keep it a more subtle and soft smokey look for this time.
I love trying out different colour combinations. There is nothing better than putting two colours together that you wouldn’t think would go and then absolutely loving the way they work with one another.
I’ve been in the habit of wearing purple and pink together a lot lately and I wanted to break free and try some new ideas. On a recent night out I wore this pink top from New Look and as luck would have it, this green necklace was sitting at top of my jewellery box. It was calling to me, try me with the pink top, please. I have to say, I think they look great together. They really compliment each other.
With that decided, I quickly grabbed my Michael Kors Clutch, which makes regular appearances on this blog (i.e. here, and here).
And of course a quick splattering of Angelica nail polish and I was good to go. I say splattering because I totally paint outside the lines. I’m brutal.
The only thing letting the outfit down is the shoes, as much as I love these ones from New Look, the ones I really need are these B Brian Atwood bad boys. They will be mine some day.
I love the crepe material and peplum style of this top. The necklace was bought while on holiday in Portugal and the Jeans are Dorothy Perkins.
Pixy Natural Skincare appeared on Dragons Den about a year ago and have become a real Irish success story. You can order from the website pixy.ie which offers free Irish deliver on orders over €10, or you can pop into one of their stockists. With new ones added regularly, there is bound to be one near you.
With so many skincare brands on the market, why try Pixy? Because the Pixy product range is made in Ireland and it’s made from natural ingredients. They say:
“We only use nature’s best in all our beauty products including moisturising shea butter and healing vitamin E oil to leave your skin soft and supple. We use essential oils, for their amazing fragrance – some energise you, others bring you back in harmony to calm you and soothe away the stress. Pixy is sheer indulgence leaving your skin glowing and renewed.”
The Lime Body Scrub Cubes became an instant hit with bloggers, many of whom likened them to the Buffy bar from Lush, and I totally agree. However there are a few reasons why I prefer them to Buffy. First, there isn’t a Lush anywhere near me and their delivery is steep for a bar of soap. Second, I like the packaging and that you use one cube at a time, leaving the rest in the package instead of having a bigger bar getting grubby hanging around the shower. Then there is the scent, the lime scent is just divine; it reminds me of lime flavoured Skittles. Warning can cause a craving for a Mojito or two. The great thing about these cubes and why they are likened to Buffy is that they exfoliate skin really well and leave it feeling seriously moisturised; so no need to slap on a tub of body butter after the shower and then wait for forever to get dressed, you’re good to go in one step.
Upping the cuteness factor is the new Lime Body Scrub Hearts. They are essentially the same as the Lime Cubes but far more adorable.
The Vanilla Mud Scrubs have been around for a while and I have been meaning to try them for ages but for some reason never got around to buying them until recently. The thing is, I love the scent of vanilla. I was hoping they would be as good as the lime scrubs and I wasn’t disappointed. As with the lime scrubs the Vanilla Mud Scrubs deliver excellent exfoliation and seriously moisturise skin leaving it feeling baby soft.
So with my love for all things vanilla scented, did I prefer the Vanilla Mud Scrubs? Surprisingly, it’s the zingy lime scent that wins with me but I am more than happy to use either.
Pixy have a large and varied range of skincare products at very reasonable prices. A pack of scrub cubes is €4.95 and the pack of hearts is €3.95. The scrubs along with their many other products, like the fizzy bath bombs in the picture, are definately worth checking out.
My Natural lip colour is quite dark as is, so it may surprise you, as it did me, to discover just how many pale pink lip products I had in my stash. A while back I had a little clear out and got rid of loads of lippies that I just can’t wear. The problem is that a pale lip product usually isn’t pigmented enough to cover my natural colour and so ends up looking like I have some sort of early 90s gik frosted lipstick on my lips. The reason I bought them all is because I saw a MAC sales assistant with the most beautiful pale pink super glossy lips and I wanted to recreate the look and kept searching for and buying products that I hoped would work. Sometimes you just have to work with what nature gave ya and try to enhance instead of completely change it. So now I look for lip products that are more “my lips but better”, but obviously I still want to have some fun and experiment with makeup. Plumful manages to do both.
Plumful is a beautiful lustre, which is very moisturising on the lips. It is a pinky-plum shade that doesn’t look that amazing in the tube but is absolutely gorgeous on. There is a slight cool blue tone to balance the warm pink and make teeth look nice and white.
This first pic is my natural bare lips, the rest are all with Plumful.
It’s not actually overwhelming on, so it would make a good day time lippie for those who wear lipstick daily. As I very rarely wear lipstick during the day, this would pack too much of a punch for my daytime look, so I reserve it for nights out or special occasions.
For anyone who is curious, the eyeshadow is MAC All That Glitters.
I am well giddy because it’s the Friday of a long weekend and it’s also NOT baltic out. Spring is here, Yea. Today I well and truly have that Friday feeling after being a bit of a moody moo earlier this week. I’m all about joys and colour and the more colours I can pack on the better.
This ever so cute bird print top is from Awear and the cardigan is from New Look.
There is a lot more purple and pink in the top so I choose to wear it with a coral cardigan to really bring out the small bits of coral in the top and because these studded coral pumps from Pennys were begging to be worn.
The Jeans are my reliable petite skinny jeans from Dorothy Perkins so almost no bunching around the ankles of this shorty. Happy days (I’m easily pleases, sometimes).
This necklace has featured in a few previous posts (here and here) and is from Carraig Donn. As I said before, it really does work with almost everything.
How are you showing your Friday feeling?
