STYLE: LONG FLOATY CHIFFON BLOUSE

??????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????

The moment I saw this long line blouse, I had to have it. It came in a few colours but surprise, surprise I settled on this duck egg blue. If you have been following this blog you will know I am partial to anything in the duck egg blue / mint green range. Obviously after buying it, I couldn’t wait to wear it. This is how I wore it on a recent night out.

??????????????????????????????? ??????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????

This chiffon long line and hi lo blouse is from Vero Moda. I absolutely love the beading and sequins detail on the collar and shoulders.

??????????????????????????????? ??????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????

Because of this detail I decided not to wear a necklace, as I didn’t want anything to take away from it. I kept it simple with these earrings from Pulse Accessories. Under the chiffon blouse I wore a long line black vest top, also from Vero Moda and the leggings are from Swamp.

??????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????

I didn’t wear a belt on the night because I liked the floaty feel of the look but you could easily add a belt if you wanted a little definition at the waist.

The pointed toe courts are from New Look. You’ve probably seen them in previous post and you are very likely to seen them in future ones because I am really into the pointed toe court trend at the moment.

LOREAL GLAM SHINE STAIN SPLASH IN 102 ROMY: REVIEW AND PICTURES

L'Oreal Glam Shine Stain Romy

This is another of the L’Oreal products that I won in a competition on frillseeker.ie. The Glam Shine Stains have been hailed as dupes for YSL Glossy Stains. I haven’t tried any of the YSL Glossy Stains so I’ll stick to telling you about the Shine Stain that I have here called Romy.

L'Oreal Glam Shine Stain Romy

This is a gloss that stains the lips, after the gloss wears off you still have a matte stain left to colour your lips so it’s kind of longwearing in that sense. The gloss lasts about two to four hours depending on how much I drink or eat and the stain has lasted about six hours. The gloss looks like it will be sheer but is actually fairly opaque and you can layer it up to full opacity. It has a doe foot applicator, which makes for easy application. The formula is smooth and comfortable enough to wear. It looks kinda thick and like it would be really sticky but it is surprisingly not sticky at all on the lips. It does dry out my lips if I don’t use a balm underneath, and I often apply once and then just use a balm over the stain throughout the day for a more subtle hint of colour (you might remember I’m not one for lipstick on a regular basis).

The colour does not look the same on my lips as it does in the tube. I’ve read a few reviews of these and apparently it’s the same with all the shades; they all look very different on the lips compared to in the tube. So choosing the perfect shade to suit you won’t be easy but it adds an element of fun and surprise. In the tube Romy looks like it will be light to medium mauve pink but on my lips it’s more of a darker plum tone. I actually prefer the colour on my lips as it suits me better than a mauve pink would.

Have you tried any of these Glam Shine Stains? If you have tried both these and the YSL Glossy Stains, how do these compare?

PACKING SKINCARE AND MAKEUP FOR HOLIDAYS

I am facing into the impossible task of trying to choose what products to bring with me on holidays to Portugal. I’m not a hand luggage only kinda gal and since I am going for ten days, I’ll need adequate supplies. We are staying in a five star (save your “ooh, no recession round here” because we got a good deal on alpharooms.com when we booked way back in January) so I expect the toiletries in the room will be decent but I still prefer to have my products with me. You never know how you might react to something when you factor in the extra heat of a sun holiday. So what’s making the cut?

Facial Skincare:

??????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????

Cleanser: La Roche Posey Physiological Foam Water, I reviewed the gel version of this here, I liked it so much I went to repurchase it but was tempted to try the foaming version for a change.
Serum & Moisturiser: L’Oreal Skin Perfection, I’ve only started using these so I will do a full review when I’ve given them a full trial, but initial impressions are very good.
Eye Cream: Sample size of Vichy LiftActiv Serum 10 Eyes & Lashes

Hair and Body:

???????????????????????????????

Body Wash: Dove Purely Pampering Shea Butter with Warm Vanilla
Shampoo and Conditioner Sheer Blonde Highlight Activating Moisturising range
Deodorant: Dove Invisible Dry Compressed

???????????????????????????????

Sun Screens: Piz Buin Tan Accelerator, SPF 15 & 6, believe it or not I can tan

Obviously I wouldn’t go to a warm country without adequate primers:

???????????????????????????????

MAC Prep & Prime for under foundation
MAC Prep & Prime BB Cream for occasional day use instead of foundation
MAC Paint Pot in Painterly for eyelid primer

The old reliables for a perfect base:

???????????????????????????????

Foundation: Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra 24 Hour
Colour Corrector: Bobbi Brown – under eyes
Concealer: MAC Pro Longwear
Finishing Powder: MAC Mineralise Skinfinish Natural Light
Contour: MAC Mineralise Skinfinish Natural Medium Deep

Now the fun stuff, eyes:

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

MAC Mineralise Eyeshadows in Fireside, Twilight Falls, and Summer Haze
MAC Eyeshadows in Omega (for Brows) Satin Taupe, All That Glitters, and Nylon (to use as a highlighter)

Liners: Rimmel Scandaleyes in Bronze & Smashbox Limitless Eyeliner in Black Violet
Mascara: Lancôme Hypnose Drama

Blush & Lips:

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

MAC Powder Blush in Peaches (my all-time favourite)
Dior Addict in Jet Set
Clarins Joli Rouge in Sweet Plum

I know it seems like a lot but I am sure I am forgetting something (I might leave out some of the eyeshadows). Any other suggestions, anything important that I am leaving out?

STYLE: CORAL BLOUSE AND SKATER SKIRT WITH SOME SNEEKY LEOPARD

The skater skirt has been around for a while now but I only bought one recently. I have a few skater style dresses but this is my first skater skirt. The great thing about a dress is it’s a whole outfit in one go; all you need is a few accessories and your done. There is no need to go rummaging through your entire wardrobe to find something to go with it. With a skirt however, you have the whole, does it match, does it work, and does the first top I had on look better with it. Anyway I’ve been thinking about my skater skirt for a while and this is what I came up with.

??????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????

It’s a fairly versatile outfit that would easily take you from day to night.

The coral top is from Penneys and the colour is quite vibrant. I thought the strong colour would contrast nicely with the black skirt.

??????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????

The belt is also from Penneys and I like how it ties in with the gold buttons on the blouse. The skater skirt is from boohoo.com

???????????????????????????????
I really like the way leopard print looks with coral and orange tones. The leopard print shoes are from Dunnes.

The cream and gold necklace is from Penneys.

MAC FLEUR POWER POWDER BLUSH: REVIEW AND PICTURES

Every makeup fanatic has that one product that they won’t leave the house without applying; for some people its lipstick, for others its mascara but for me its blush. In my teens, I didn’t bother with blush, then I realised how pale and flat my face looked so I started using bronzer on my cheeks. I can still remember the first time a MAC makeup artist applied a peachy blush to my cheeks. With one quick swipe across each cheek my face was instantly lifted. There is nothing like blush to instantly brighten my face, make me look healthier and more awake and a little prettier. While I use blushes from many brands now, the MAC powder blushes will always hold a special place in my heart and will always be my first choice. Do I need to tell you that MAC powder blushes are really long lasting? Today I am showing you Fleur Power.

MAC Fleur Power

Fleur Power is a “soft bright pinkish-coral” according to the MAC website. I would say it is definitely more coral than pink. It is far more pigmented than Peaches and the colour is vibrant. A softly, softly approach is better with Fleur Power, you can always add more to build up the colour if needs be. I prefer to wear this shade when I have a bit of a tan; fake or real. I think it works really well with sun kissed skin as opposed to my usual paler complexion. So here are the pictures:

CURRENT FAVOURITE ACCESSORIES

I assume many people are like me in respect of how they go through phases with accessories. I find myself reaching for the same bits and pieces over and over again over a period of time and then it all changes and I start reaching for a new set of accessories. Accessory trends are tied in with clothing trends and change from season to season. I figured it was time I showed you what’s getting my love at the moment because I’m off on holidays and I do love to pick up some bits and pieces in markets, stalls and local shops while I’m away. As much as I love a bargain in Penneys, there is something so satisfying about buying something and knowing no one at home will have it.
So here is a look at the accessories that I am loving at the moment:

Turquoise Necklace
You have seen this necklace in a few posts already. I bought it in Penneys. Turquoise is always classy and this piece really adds a lovely pop of colour to so many outfits.

??????????????????????????????? ??????????????????????????????? ??????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????

I actually picked both of these scarves up in a bric-a-brac value shop. With the warm and humid weather I usually wear these loosely with a t-shirt, blazer and jeans when heading out in the evening.

??????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????

This is my new favourite belt. You may be seeing a lot of this because the pale pink is girly and the studs give it a bit of edge. Because it’s nude it goes with everything and I love the little turn lock buckle.

???????????????????????????????

There was a post on beaut.ie recently that said big wrist jewellery and cuffs were going to be a big trend so I dug out this little beauty. My older sister gave it to me years ago when she finished with the glam rock phase.

??????????????????????????????? OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Dangling chandelier earrings have been another big trend for summer and I have been wearing these ones from New Look.

???????????????????????????????
Another green necklace, but this one is a little bit daintier and far more subtle than some of my others. It’s Jaime La Vie from Carraig Donn.

???????????????????????????????
This knuckle duster is also from Awear. I just like that it is eye catching and pretty.
What accessories are getting your love at the moment?

FRIDAY STYLE: THE DITSY SUN DRESS GOES TO WORK

??????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????

I showed you this dress before in this post, but that was back in winter when I was showing you that you can still wear a sun dress in the winter. I mentioned that these little sun dresses can be really versatile because as well as wearing it as it was intended, with sandals when it’s sunny, you could also pair it with a blazer and pumps like I have here for work. I’m sitting here in work wearing my little sun dress, a blazer and pumps and I figured I should do a post so you can actually see what I was talking about in case you didn’t envision it working when I did the original post.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The dress and blazer are both from Penneys. I’m starting to think I should rename my blog to “What I got in Penneys”. Some of you must think I’m getting paid by them but I assure you I am not. I could afford more expensive clobber if I was getting paid. The dress has a really pretty dragonfly print and bow detail. You can get another look at this cute blazer in this post. The navy  leggings are from Swamp. I needed something on my legs because it’s a bit colder and raining today, but I find it hard to wear tights in summer; I just don’t like the feeling of them on my feet so leggings feature more often these days.

Pink and Teal Shoes

I got these super cute pumps while on holiday in Portugal last year. I absolutely love the vibrant teal and pink colours along with the strap and buckle detail. The colours of the pumps really tie in with the print of the dress. I showed you these pumps with Jeans in this previous post.

Do you wear sun dresses when it’s not sunny?
