It’s that time of the year again and that can only mean one thing; the Christmas jumper night out. I am doing the Christmas jumper night out this weekend and I am trying to decide how to style it. Last year was easier because I had to go to a christening earlier so I just put the jumper on over what I was wearing. This year I am starting from scratch. The thing is I am going out, on a night out, in a jumper. I usually like to put a little effort into getting ready for a night out and this week should see the start of Christmas parties so everyone else will be wearing their glamorous party dresses. So I’m trying to decide if I should go all out, put on some tan, curl my hair and wear the jumper with a skirt, heels and a statement necklace or should I enjoy being low maintenance and relaxed and just wear the jumper with jeans and flats. At the moment I am thinking something in between might be the way to go.
So I’m thinking a basic white shirt underneath for a bit of smart interest (and in case the jumper makes me itchy), my distressed River Island jeans and my Dune courts (although these are very likely to be substituted because they are very high and uncomfortable but they look good in pictures).
The jumper is from Penneys and it lights up!!!! Penneys are donating €2 to Make-A-Wish Ireland for every full price Christmas jumper sold this week so not just a silly jumper but also supporting a good cause and I can feel smug looking at all the glamorous ladies in their sparkly dresses.
Are you doing the Christmas jumper night out? How will you be wearing your jumper; glamming it up or keeping it casual? More importantly, does your jumper light up?
Today’s post is just a relaxed and easy smart casual outfit combining two of my favorite colours, cobalt blue and mint green.
I picked this top up in Penneys a few weeks ago. The colour of this top is a deep cobalt blue, not quite dark enough to be navy. The material is kind of like a faux silk. I like the little ruffles at the shoulders and the way it nips in with an elasticated waist. This top works well with both jeans and skirts and it can be really glammed up or kept casual.
The blazer is old and it is also from Penneys. I have seen some lovely mint coloured blazers lately, if you are looking there is a gorgeous waterfall style one in New Look.
This is turning out to be quite the homage to Penneys because the necklace is from there as well. I only got it a few weeks ago. You can’t beat a cute statement necklace for a fiver.
Moving away from all things Penneys, the jeans are from River Island. You can see them again in this post.
The shoes are from Dune. I would only wear the heels if I was heading out for the night but when wearing this outfit for day time I would wear these little blue pumps, which are of course from Penneys.
Do you like cobalt blue and mint green together? What is you favourite colour combination?
Well it’s been a scorcher this week and I have been loving it. Unfortunately the temperatures have eased off a bit for the weekend but at least it’s still nice enough out. This week’s outfit should provide some inspiration if you are heading out this weekend and want to keep cool while also hiding a bit of the lobster coloured skin. We all know many of you got totally burned this week. Yea the old “I was only out for a bit” without any sun cream. When will we learn?
This top is from River Island. I love the colours and print of this top but it is sheer so I wear it with a black vest top underneath.
The jeans are also from River Island and I am just loving almost everything in River Island at the moment. I am also big fan of distressed or ripped jeans and just can’t seem to have too many pairs. These are supposed to be ankle grazers but they are more or less normal length on me because I am, what my husband likes to call, a short arse.
The blazer is from Swamp and here it is in another recent post. The light chiffon and crepe fabric makes it perfect for this warm summer weather. It’s a nice light cover up for when it gets cooler in the evenings or if you need to hide scalded shoulders.
The necklace is from Carraig Donn and here is another look at it in a recent post.
These shoes are from Dune. I love them but they are total ankle breakers. One of these days I will get round to trying to get the heel shortened. I like the colour of them so much though and the colour ties in nicely with the top.
How will you be keeping cool this weekend? What are you going to wear if you head out?
There is nothing better than finding a brand that is always the perfect fit, this post contains two brands that I can always rely on to fit perfectly. I can buy with confidence online or even buy in the sale without trying on and know it’ll be fine. Closet is a brand, whose clothes I can pick up anything in my size and it fits perfect. And for shoes my go to brand is Menbur, their courts never slip off my heel and they are so comfortable.
It’s been a while since I did a post with my new favourite colour for this summer, lime, so I picked this dress from Closet. Navy always works well with strong vibrant colours like the neon lime beading on this dress. Navy can also be more flattering than black on pale Irish skin tones. The beading means you can keep accessories to a minimum so a dress like this can be really handy when you are in a hurry as there is no need to rummage around looking for the perfect necklace. I also love the unusual strap placement on this dress and the way it goes into a V at the back.
You’ve probably already guessed that the shoes are from Menbur. Menbur shoes may be a bit pricey but since I’m a size 4, I often get lucky and find them in my size reduced in the sales. For the price you are getting great comfort. Noting makes me more smug than when my friends decide to move to a different pub when it is raining and I can power walk on and keep up with the boys, while the other girls are struggling and hobbling along behind in shoes they can barely sit in, never mind walk in. The lime may not be a perfect match to the neon beads on the dress but I still think these shoes work fine with the dress.
I don’t have a lime clutch (but I do have my eye on one in River Island) so I was going to use a neutral toned clutch, when I thought, one bright colour deserves another. This coral pink bag was a free gift with purchase from The Body Shop.
Have I convinced you to buy anything lime yet? Have you found any brands that are always your perfect fit?
