Today’s post is just a relaxed and easy smart casual outfit combining two of my favorite colours, cobalt blue and mint green.
I picked this top up in Penneys a few weeks ago. The colour of this top is a deep cobalt blue, not quite dark enough to be navy. The material is kind of like a faux silk. I like the little ruffles at the shoulders and the way it nips in with an elasticated waist. This top works well with both jeans and skirts and it can be really glammed up or kept casual.
The blazer is old and it is also from Penneys. I have seen some lovely mint coloured blazers lately, if you are looking there is a gorgeous waterfall style one in New Look.
This is turning out to be quite the homage to Penneys because the necklace is from there as well. I only got it a few weeks ago. You can’t beat a cute statement necklace for a fiver.
Moving away from all things Penneys, the jeans are from River Island. You can see them again in this post.
The shoes are from Dune. I would only wear the heels if I was heading out for the night but when wearing this outfit for day time I would wear these little blue pumps, which are of course from Penneys.
Do you like cobalt blue and mint green together? What is you favourite colour combination?
Happy Friday everyone! It’s been very warm this week but not necessarily sunny. It’s too warm for a jacket but I still feel like I should have some sort of cover up with me. Enter the kimono!
I have been looking for the perfect kimono for ages now. There are loads of them everywhere, but I was looking for one with a print and colours that I liked, but I didn’t want it to have any fringing or be too long. The long ones are gorgeous on tall girls but they would look like a bath robe on me because I am only 5’2”. Finally I spotted this one in an email from missguided.com and I had it ordered within minutes. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that missguided.com deliver to Ireland for fee and the delivery only took a few days. When you want to buy into a trend, don’t pick up the first thing you see, wait and find one that’s right for you. Also if you don’t want to buy into a trend because you think everyone will be wearing the same thing but you like the style, keep looking for the one that’s so you, then it won’t be the same as everyone else and have some fun with how you style it.
This top is from Penneys. Another excellent value find from Penneys that looks like it should be far more expensive. The texture of the material and the cut of this top gives it a real lux quality. I am guessing by what is filtering into the shops at the moment that next season is going to be all about texture. Embroidery, appliques, quilting, lace and tweeds are showing up in all the shops, you’ll see what I mean in a few weeks when the winter stock is fully in all the shops.
The jeans are from River Island. You can see them again in this post. I have made no secret of my love for distressed and ripped jeans, I’m up to four pairs now.
The belt is old and from Dunnes, the colour is a perfect match to print in the kimono.
I picked this necklace up while on holiday. Again the colours tie in with the print in the kimono and a white round neck top is always going to call out for a statement necklace.
The shoes are from New Look. I do love a pointed toe court. I have shoes in a similar pink to the flower on the kimono but they are quite dressy and I thought they looked OTT so I went with the black courts.
What do you think of Kimonos, love or hate them? Have you bought one?
So today we are talking about relaxed casual weekend style. This is an outfit that I would wear when I want to look nice but also be comfortable and casual. So it would work for a day of retail therapy or meeting some friends for lunch.
The top is from Penneys. It’s a wrap style with a low cut and it is a bit on the transparent side so I wear a black tank top underneath. I like the blue animal print of this top. The tank top is one of the ones from Penneys with the lace insert, you know the ones I mean because everyone bought them. They are pretty handy for under low cut tops to cover your cleavage or in my case to cover the fact that I don’t have cleavage.
The blue blazer is from Mango. I love this blazer; the colour is brilliant and the material is soft and comfortable.
Yes these are yet another pair of distressed jeans. These ones are also from River Island, you may remember these black ones from a few weeks ago. These are very comfortable and easy to wear and you could easily dress them up with a pair of heels. I love the look of a really pretty girly top worn with distressed jeans, and heels for a night out. I am on the lookout for a pretty girly top at the moment.
I picked these flat pumps up while on holiday. The colour works well and the gold hardware adds a nice touch of glam.
Sure where would I be going without a statement necklace, I picked this one up on holiday. I try to pack light on the way out so I can buy some nice bits and pieces that I’m unlikely to see on anyone else when I get home.
So how do you do nice but casual for the weekends?
Well it’s been a scorcher this week and I have been loving it. Unfortunately the temperatures have eased off a bit for the weekend but at least it’s still nice enough out. This week’s outfit should provide some inspiration if you are heading out this weekend and want to keep cool while also hiding a bit of the lobster coloured skin. We all know many of you got totally burned this week. Yea the old “I was only out for a bit” without any sun cream. When will we learn?
This top is from River Island. I love the colours and print of this top but it is sheer so I wear it with a black vest top underneath.
The jeans are also from River Island and I am just loving almost everything in River Island at the moment. I am also big fan of distressed or ripped jeans and just can’t seem to have too many pairs. These are supposed to be ankle grazers but they are more or less normal length on me because I am, what my husband likes to call, a short arse.
The blazer is from Swamp and here it is in another recent post. The light chiffon and crepe fabric makes it perfect for this warm summer weather. It’s a nice light cover up for when it gets cooler in the evenings or if you need to hide scalded shoulders.
The necklace is from Carraig Donn and here is another look at it in a recent post.
These shoes are from Dune. I love them but they are total ankle breakers. One of these days I will get round to trying to get the heel shortened. I like the colour of them so much though and the colour ties in nicely with the top.
How will you be keeping cool this weekend? What are you going to wear if you head out?
