FRIDAY STYLE: BACK IN BLACK

Phototastic-18_02_2015_3d5b1dc1-bbe4-4a54-a5e4-fef839701472

Would it be terribly auld wan of me to say I can’t believe its “Friday Style” time again? The weeks are flying by; it’ll be Christmas before you know it. Right, with that little rant over, let’s move on to today’s outfit. I don’t often wear head to toe black because it can be a bit harsh on my pale Irish skin tone, navy would be more forgiving. Also black can be a bit boring, I like colour but I do appreciate how chic and versatile black can be. A change of shoes and accessories is all that is needed to take a black blouse and black skinny jeans from work, to meeting friends for lunch, to a night on the tiles. Let’s not forget the obvious, it’s slimming.

Penneys Black Blouse with Cream Piping
This top is another great find from Penneys. I think this looks way more expensive than Penneys and I even think the material has a lux feel to it. The cream piping is a nice bit of interesting detail adding to the lux feel of it but it also draws the eyes in a vertical direction adding to the slimming effect. This is a gorgeous blouse that could be worn so many ways.
The jeans are my old faithful super soft skinnies from Dorothy Perkins.

Penneys Slouchy Boots
The boots are also from Penneys. They are faux suede, slouchy knee high boots. Unfortunately they are few years old and I love them so much that I have a second pair stashed in the back of my wardrobe waiting to replace these if they ever fall apart; I had to have a back up. Keep an eye out because I think Penneys had the same ones again a few months back.

Carraig Donn Rose Gold Heart Necklace Carraig Donn Rose Gold Heart Necklace

The necklace is from Carraig Donn. It’s been all about large statement necklaces that sit at the collar bone for a long time now but a long pendent can be really glam too. This one is a lovely rose gold with pearls and a filigree heart. I think it’s gorgeous.
Are you a regular wearer of head to toe black, or do you prefer to mix it up?

FRIDAY STYLE: 3 OUTFITS FOR VALENTINE’S INSPIRATION

Love it or hate it, it’s that time of the year again, Valentine’s Day. I’m a bit of a girly girl so I love the chance to get dressed up in pink (red isn’t a great colour for me). Today I am showing you three outfits to give you some inspiration if you are heading out on Saturday Night.

First up is an outfit I showed you a while back. It doesn’t get much pinker than this hot pink, bodycon Vesper Dress, Vero Moda necklace and New Look Shoes.

Phototastic-25_01_2015_8df411a0-3389-4705-bc4d-80c183729662

The next outfit is from this recent post. It’s a more subtle outfit but still quite feminine and romantic. The top and skirt are both from River Island and the shoes are New Look.

Last we have an outfit that I haven’t shown you yet. This is a lot less girlie than the other two and perfect if you don’t want to be too dressed up but still want to channel a bit of romance.

f7c2eee1-424f-41f3-988c-fbab1e4191b8

This berry pink top is from Oasis. It is plain at the front but has some cute pleating details at the back.

New Look Biker Jacket

The faux leather biker jacket is from New Look and I have had it for ages, so a good investment considering its still in style. You can get similar ones to this in many high street shops now.

Dorothy Perkins Gold Zips Black Trousers

The trousers are from Dorothy Perkins. Another outfit option would be to wear leather look trousers or leggings with a blazer, keeping it edgy by swapping where you wear the leather (double leather could look a little 80’s glam rock).

River Island Printed Courts

The shoes are from River Island, any excuse to wear them. I told you it’s all about the printed shoes.

Carraig Donn Rose Gold Heart Necklace Love it or hate it, it’s that time of the year again, Valentine’s Day. I’m a bit of a girly girl so I love the chance to get dressed up in pink (red isn’t a great colour for me). Today I am showing you three outfits to give you some inspiration if you are heading out on Saturday Night.

The necklace is from Carraig Donn. I love the rose gold colour of it and the filigree heart is very pretty.

What are you planning on wearing this Valentine’s Day?

FRIDAY STYLE: LAYERS OF NAVY

c88e119d-d11a-4b82-ae4b-f65aa6b26f1c

Well how did we all survive the short week after the bank holiday? I really should apologise if you are looking for some Halloween inspiration; it’s just not really my thing. Every year the weeks in the run to Halloween and for another two weeks after are crazy busy for me both in work and in my personal life. I like all the costumes and I like being creative so maybe next year I will try and get my butt in gear early and do something really creative for Halloween. They are saying that tomorrow is the official start to winter but it’s still fairly mild (long may it last) so today’s post is about light layers.

5993f8e3-cdbb-44fc-b85f-b9d1b890fb6c

I picked this jumper up in Penneys recently. I love knit wear with metallic thread through it; it really glams up the auld jumper. The navy and white Bretton style stripes are a classic so you can’t go wrong.

Vero Moda Long Line Vest

The lace peeking out underneath is from this long line Vero Moda vest top. I have a few of these long line vests, they come in loads of colours, with or without lace and you can get them with long sleeves as well. They come in handy when you want to add a little something to a plain top.

SelfTimer30_10_2014 09_19_37

This berry tone blazer is perfect for the days when you don’t quite need the winter coat. It’s also from Penneys.

Dorothy Perkins Navy Jeans

The jeans are super soft, navy skinny jeans from Dorothy Perkins. They are indeed soft and very comfortable.

Parfois Necklace

This necklace is making a fair few appearances lately. I really like the combination of colours in it and think it works with most autumnal tones. It is from Parfois.

Conac Bourbon Ankle Boots

The shoes are from the Amy Huberman range for Bourbon. I like the look of navy and tan together and these ankle boots are perfect for this time of year.

So tell me are you dressing up for Halloween or being boring like me?

FRIDAY STYLE: MINT GREEN AND BLACK WITH GOLD ZIPS

If you have been reading my little blog for a while now, it won’t have escaped your attention that mint green is one of my favourite colours.

Carraig Donn Pala D'Oro Mint Green Top

I bought this top from Carraig Donn, the label is Pala D’Oro. It has quite a few things going on that are always going to appeal to me. The obvious being that its mint green, then you have the gold zips on the black panels at the shoulders. I don’t know why but I just like the contrast of gold hardware against black material. The shape is also one that is easy to wear in that the looseness can really hide a multitude. I would normally say that wearing baggy clothes can make you look larger but the way that this is elasticated at the waist brings it back in so it can look slimming as long as you wear it with something fitted on the bottom like skinny jeans or fitted trousers.

Dorothy Perkins Gold Zips Black TrousersPenneys Black Blazer with Gold Zips

I paired it these trousers from Dorothy Perkins and this blazer from Penneys, You will also note the gold zips on the trousers and the blazer, it’s not an accident.

New Look Pointed Court

I was going to wear my green Enzo Angiolini shoes but it was raining so I went with these black ones with gold on the heels from New Look because they are more comfortable and I can walk faster in them.

Michael Kors Clutch

The clutch is Michael Kors, I think the colour ties in nicely here but I wear this clutch even when it doesn’t match because I think it’s a classic and I love it.

The bracelet is something I picked up on holidays years ago and the earrings are also old from Penneys.

FRIDAY STYLE: LILAC AND PLUM

a9b511f4-72b2-4fc6-b2e6-696034f4f584_jpeg

Would I be Irish if I didn’t comment on how the evenings are drawing in? Up until Thursday, the darkness creeping in earlier and earlier each evening was the only sign that summer was over. This was a week of two halves; it started out warm and summery and is ending with autumn well and truly rolling in and raring to go. With this in mind I decided to use both summery and autumnal colours in today’s outfit; I am combining bright pastel lilac with a warm and rich berry tone.

Plum Penneys Blazer
This blazer is from Penneys, sure how could we have a post without something from Penneys. I picked this up last winter but you will see loads of similar ones in any of the high street shops this time of year.

Vero Moda Floral Top
The top is from Vero Moda. You can also see it with blue in this post.

Dorothy Perkins Gold Zips Black Trousers
These are the black trousers with gold zips from Dorothy Perkins. I wear these lots.

Lilac Necklace
I picked this necklace up while on holiday in Portugal, you can see the rest of the holiday haul here.

New Look Pointed Court
The shoes are from New Look.

FRIDAY STYLE: MY TAKE ON DOUBLE DENIM

6a396160-4298-4504-baf0-e800bdc15b30_jpeg

It may technically be summer but you still need to layer up a bit. Today’s outfit has some pastels peeking out but it’s not quite screaming summer either so I think it’s appropriate for the mixed bag of weather we are having lately. I think double denim can look quite cool but I’m not sure I am cool enough to carry it off so I cheated a little here by breaking it up with the top underneath and wearing dark navy jeans.

New Look Denim Shirt

I’ve wanted a denim shirt for a while now but it’s hard to find one in just the right colour. This one is not too light, it’s not too dark and it has some nice fading. The material is quite thin so I won’t roast when I wear it with another light layer like I have here. I got this denim shirt in New Look recently.

Penneys Check Shirt

The check shirt underneath is from Penneys and I have had this for a while now. I really like the peach and aqua blue along with the navy in this shirt. I actually wear this a lot. I think it works really well with the denim shirt and the navy jeans.

Dorothy Perkins Navy Jeans

The Navy jeans are from Dorothy Perkins.

Carraig Donn Statement Necklace

This necklace is another recent purchase and it’s from Carraig Donn. I absolutely fell in love with this the minute I saw it and I think it ties the whole outfit together nicely.

Oasis nude courts

The shoes are from Oasis. I’ve said it a few times now but nude wedge heel courts are a brilliant type of shoe to have as you can wear them with almost anything and they are comfortable.

Are you brave enough to wear full on double denim or do you cheat like me?

FRIDAY STYLE: GOING GREEN WITHOUT THE PADDY WHACKERY

252b574e-8eba-42dc-a40c-6ee76dd59d01_jpeg(3)

With the week that’s in it, I felt that this Friday’s post should include green and we know how much I love green, but I’m not really the kind of girl that wears a green Póg Mo Thóin T-shirt. I thought I would do a post on how you can wear your green for St. Patrick’s Day but in an elegant way. While I will be heading into town to meet up with a few friends to watch the parade and then go for some grub and drinks, I won’t be spending the day getting entirely sloshed so I want to look a little classy.

Teal Green Cutie Blazer

Starting with the green, this blazer is by Cutie and I picked it up in Carraig Donn. It is more of a teal green. I have this blazer in a few colours now, I like the style and fit of them. I think they work so well to dress up most outfits.

Floral Print Penneys Top

This top is from Penneys. I personally think it looks a lot more expensive than Penneys. I love the beautiful floral print. I can also wear it with a raspberry pink blazer or cardigan for a completely different look.

Dorothy Perkins Gold Zips Black Trousers

The trousers are from Dorothy Perkins, I told you before that I love gold zips on black clothing. I think the gold zips on these trousers can make a whole outfit look a bit dressier than it would be with just plain black trousers or jeans.

New Look Pointed Court

The shoes are from New Look, again the gold strip on the back of the heel ties in with the trousers.

Lá Fhéile Pádraig Sona Daoibh!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend and a great St. Patrick’s Day.
