Sunshine, glorious sunshine!!! With my vitamin D levels fully topped up I am in high spirits. It’s been a gorgeous week so on to today’s gorgeous dress. Many of us develop a staple look or uniform of sorts; a style of outfit that we feel comfortable in and think we look good in, so we recreate it over and over in varying shades. How many of us wear a blazer of some colour with skinny jeans more or less every day? For me, as much as I love a blazer and skinnys, it’s either a knit dress in winter or a shirt dress in summer. I do love a shirt dress.
Today’s shirt dress is probably the prettiest one I have ever seen. The print is just so gorgeous; I love the watercolour style floral and all the pretty colours. The shape, length and cut of this shirt dress are all just perfect for me and I feel a million bucks in this dress. It’s from River Island. River Island, if you are reading this, you are killing it lately, keep up the good work.
With such a pretty print, I decided to keep the accessories simple. The necklace and bracelet are both from Thomas Sabo. I love that I can swap the charms back and forth between the bracelet and the necklace to suit what I am wearing or my mood.
The shoes are my nude courts from Kate Appleby for Knightsbridge. They are so comfortable.
What’s your go to outfit?
I don’t know why blue is the colour of sadness because it can be so bright and vibrant. Blue is also currently having a moment and is shaping up to be on trend right through autumn and winter. I’m taking advantage of the mild weather for as long as it lasts and using the opportunity to wear all my blazers while they are still enough of a cover up.
This gorgeous cobalt blue blazer is from Mango. I love the military style gold buttons on this.
The floral print t-shirt is from Awear. I’m not usually a huge fan of florals but I love the mirror style print on this T, the mix of colours is stunning. One thing to point out is that I would usually be a medium in Awear but this t-shirt is a small.
You have seen this turquoise necklace in a few posts. I think it works well with the aqua tones in the print.
The shoes are a recent purchase. I bought them while on holiday in Portugal.
Will you be working blue this season?
With the beautiful weather we have been having lately and the promise of more to come in August, it’s quite likely that we will all be enjoying some B-B-Q’s and garden parties or even a few drinks in local beer gardens. It stands to reason that most of us want to be wearing floaty fabrics and bright floral prints and I’m no exception. Here is what I wore recently to the afters of a wedding last week.
This dress is from Villa. The beautiful pint and chiffon material make this a perfect dress for a special occasion; it could easily be dressed up with heels and accessories. I’ve kept the look more causal here. I wanted to look nice because there was lots of extended family around, but being the day after the day and night before, I wanted to be a bit more relaxed and comfortable.
The fuchsia pink shrug is USCO from Swamp and the colour really lifts the print in the dress. I wore my trusty and comfy DKNY flip flops as my feet were a bit worse for wear after all the dancing at the wedding but definitely heels or wedges would work better.
The earrings and bracelet are both from Penneys.
How will you be dressing up for a nice day out in the sunshine?
