I gave you my review of the Sleek Vintage Romance palette last week but I didn’t have any decent pictures of eye looks using this palette. I had been using it loads when heading out over the Christmas but as per usual I was always running late so I didn’t have the time to be taking pictures all over the house in search of lighting that would show up the colours of the shadows accurately. So here is a look I did over the weekend.
Sleek Vintage Romance Palette
Kiko Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadow in Rose Brown
Kiko Glamorous Eye Pencil in Plum
Lancôme Grandiose Mascara
I started by using the Kiko Long Lasting Stick in Rose Brown all over the lid and crease as a primer. This works as a great base to hold powder eye shadows in place and it adds depth to the colour.
I also used it to line the bottom lashes.
I applied 1 (Forever in Florence) all over the lid and crease.
Then I blended 2 (Bliss in Barcelona) from the outer corner into the crease.
Next, a dab of 3 (Pretty in Paris) in the inner corner and outer brow bone for a highlight.
I lined my upper eye lids and bottom lashes with 2 (Bliss in Barcelona) and then went over the lines with the Kiko Glamorous Eye Pencil in Plum. I think using powder eye shadow either over or under a pencil liner helps keep it in place longer. I use the powder under the pencil if I want a sharp clean line and I use the powder over the pencil if I want to soften the liner for a smoky look.
Finally I lashed on Lancôme Grandiose Mascara.
I love the purple and plum shades is this palette. Have you tried any of the Sleek palettes yet?
A couple of weeks back I spotted something on the X-Factor, Cheryl wearing violet eye shadow as eyeliner on her bottom lash line, a look she obviously stole from me in this post and this one, I used to do this look a lot but I haven’t done it in ages. I had forgotten about it so here is again with a bit of a fresh update. I decided to add a little pop of orange in here because I love gold and orange tones on my green eyes and purple and orange look great together.
MAC Satin taupe – all over eye lid and in crease
MAC Nocturnelle – center of lid
MAC Hepcat – outer corner
MAC Summer Haze – just the orange shade in inner corner and under bottom line
Smashbox Black Violet – lined top and bottom lash lines
MAC Parfait Amour – lined over the Black Violet eyeliner
Lancôme Grandiose Mascara
Actually Cheryl’s eye makeup has been great this season, are there any other looks that you liked?
After two weeks off work, 10 days of which I spent in sunny Portugal, am I refreshed and raring to go? No, actually I could do with a holiday to get over my holiday. Lying in the sun, working on my tan all day is hard work, I had to flip over every half hour to keep it even, I was like a rotisserie chicken. Luckily I had a few days when I got back before returning to work but they were spent working in my garden. I’m trying to become a proper adult home owner and take pride in my garden, yes I know I am getting old; the signs are glaring. I had intended to post this on Monday because I wanted my first post back to be about the products I picked up in duty free, however, I was way too tired to do it so the blog stayed on holiday for a few extra days. Never fear, I’m back to normal now and you can expect a post every Monday, Wednesday and Friday for the foreseeable future.
So I’ll stop babbling on and show you the goods:
First up is my new favourite thing, MAC Mineralise Eye Shadow Quad in A Glimmer of Gold. I hope you like it because you may be seeing it a lot as this is all that I have been putting on my eyes since I got it. I will do a proper post on this with loads of pictures of these shadows on my eyes soon.
Another MAC Mineralise Eye Shadow is Gilt by Association. This has a matte finish, so it’s totally different from all my other MAC Mineralise Eye Shadows, which all have a satin finish, not that it needed any justification. This is lovely and of course I will give you a closer look soon.
Next is the Lancôme Grandiose Mascara. I have wanted this since it first went on sale here and I didn’t think I would be able to hold out till my holidays to get it, but I did and it doesn’t disappoint.
Last but not least is Estee Lauder Double Wear Light. I have been devoted to Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra 24 Hour for a long time now and Double Wear Light was on my list to try for ages so I finally gave in a decided to embrace change and give it a go. I like it and will do a full review of it but I haven’t decided if I prefer it to the Lancôme, I need more time to make up my mind.
So there you have them, I didn’t buy too much but instead went for a few select quality products. I am really happy with everything I got. What’s on you duty free wish list?
