Well it’s been another beautiful week of sunshine and warm temperatures and it looks set to continue next week too; woohoo! Spring is finally here so it’s time to break out the softer colours and lighter layers.
This beautiful baby pink waterfall blazer is from the brand Pala D’oro from Carraig Donn. This blazer has a lovely loose and flowy shape as well as a soft crepe texture. Its light enough that I won’t be sweltering if I wear it on summer nights out but it’s warm enough for now as well. The colour is a perfect pastel for this time of year; it really gives a spring time feel. Baby pink is a colour that I’m not that bothered about myself, but I always get loads of compliments on how the colour suits me when I wear it.
The top is old and it’s from H & M. There are loads of similar style tops in the shops now; there was even a very similar one with long sleeves in Carraig Donn. The high neck and lace details makes this top really pretty, especially paired with this jacket. But this top could also have a festival or boho vibe if it was worn with denim cut off shorts or a floral maxi skirt or anything with fringing.
The jeans are the Erin Jeggings from River Island. I recently sang their praises in this post so I won’t bang on about them again here, except to say that I still love them.
The nude shoes are Kate Appleby for Knightsbridge.
The necklace is also from Carraig Donn. I live in a small town with a large Carraig Donn; I love going for a little wander around in there. I very rarely leave empty handed.
Are you wearing paler colours yet? What’s your favourite pastel?
Sunshine, glorious sunshine!!! With my vitamin D levels fully topped up I am in high spirits. It’s been a gorgeous week so on to today’s gorgeous dress. Many of us develop a staple look or uniform of sorts; a style of outfit that we feel comfortable in and think we look good in, so we recreate it over and over in varying shades. How many of us wear a blazer of some colour with skinny jeans more or less every day? For me, as much as I love a blazer and skinnys, it’s either a knit dress in winter or a shirt dress in summer. I do love a shirt dress.
Today’s shirt dress is probably the prettiest one I have ever seen. The print is just so gorgeous; I love the watercolour style floral and all the pretty colours. The shape, length and cut of this shirt dress are all just perfect for me and I feel a million bucks in this dress. It’s from River Island. River Island, if you are reading this, you are killing it lately, keep up the good work.
With such a pretty print, I decided to keep the accessories simple. The necklace and bracelet are both from Thomas Sabo. I love that I can swap the charms back and forth between the bracelet and the necklace to suit what I am wearing or my mood.
The shoes are my nude courts from Kate Appleby for Knightsbridge. They are so comfortable.
What’s your go to outfit?
Some of you have spent the entire summer complaining about the heat and humidity. You may have also been expressing how much you are looking forward to autumn and how happy you are now that it’s getting cooler. Not me! I love summer, I love heat even if it is humid and I love the long bright evenings. I hate when it starts getting darker early. I am digging my heels, nails and everything else in and clinging on to the last dregs of summer for as long as I can. Which brings us on to today’s bright summery outfit.
Is this not the prettiest skirt you have ever seen? The floral print of this is just so cute. The shape and length add to its cuteness. As far as the midi length skirt goes this one is a good length for me because it’s a bit shorter, like me. The material is that scuba material so it will hold its A-line shape. I got this recently from ASOS. With all the many colours in it I am spoilt for choice as to what to wear it with, so I can wear it with loads of different tops and get lots of wear out of it.
I have paired my super cute skirt with this bright coral/peach top from Penneys to keep it summery. I am bringing this skirt on holidays with this top and I will also bring a mint green and a white top. That’s three different outfits from one skirt (more baggage room to buy stuff while I’m out there). You could also make this skirt a bit more appropriate for autumn by wearing it with some of the darker colours in the floral print, like the dark raspberry pink/plum or the dark green.
As I always say a plain round neck top needs a little something so I picked this necklace, which I got while on holidays last year.
There are a lot of bright colours going on here already so I figured nudes shoes would be the best option instead of throwing in another colour. These shoes are Kate Appleby for Knightsbridge.
Are you embracing the darker autumnal tones or are you clinging on to bright summery colours?
Today I am showing you another Jaime La Vie dress from Carraig Donn. This is another brand, whose dresses I am very fond of and I can usually pick up any of their dresses in my size and feel confident that it will fit perfectly.
The main reason I bought this dress is that I love the colours and style. Colour blocking almost always looks classy and I love orange and navy together. Let’s not forget the gold zips, we all know I love gold zips as a stand out detail on a garment. The panelling style is very flattering, which is always a plus. The other great thing about this dress is that it is really versatile. I have styled it here for a night out with heels, clutch and a statement necklace. It could easily be worn to work with simpler jewellery, a blazer and you could even put a blouse underneath to be extra professional.
I also plan on wearing this dress out to Sunday lunch with the family by wearing it with my nude wedge heel courts from Oasis and this neutral toned Guess bag.
My nude courts are Knightsbridge by Kate Appleby. These are really comfortable and comfortable nude courts, that you can actually walk in, should be a staple in every woman’s wardrobe.
I bought this necklace while on holiday in Portugal. I love picking up jewellery and accessories on holiday because it’s very unlikely that you will see it on anyone else when you get home.
The bag is a cross body bag from Penneys but I don’t really like cross body bags so I shortened the strap to use it as a clutch.
Well we’ve made it through another week, it may have been a short one but I feel like I’ve packed loads in. Anyway the denim shirt is getting another outing. This time it’s being dressed up with a pretty pink midi for a fun evening look.
The denim shirt is from New Look and if you want to see it paired with jeans just check out this post.
The skirt is from Closet. It’s a full pleated midi skirt in a vibrant coral toned pink. Midi skirts are all over the place at the moment. It can be hard to find one in just the right length. The wrong length is when the hem is at the fullest part of your leg. I’m still not sure about this one length wise but I love the colour.
The statement necklace is from Penneys. Penneys have had some really great jewellery lately and at brilliant prices.
The clutch was a free gift with purchase from The Body Shop. It’s a beautiful bright coral toned pink, which is great for summer.
The shoe are my old reliable nude courts from Kate Appleby Knightsbridge.
What do you think of dressing up denim shirts with skirts? Have you bought into the midi trend?
You may have noticed that I am all about coral this summer. In fairness it’s hard not to be. The weather may be a mixed bag at the moment but I have faith that the sunshine is going to make a comeback and coral is the perfect bright and summery colour to celebrate its return. When the sun shines all I want wear are bright and floaty fabrics.
This coral chiffon hi-lo skirt is from Penneys. I know, right; Penneys is just so on the money and for so little money.
The slinky mocha top is from Swamp.
The belt is also from Penneys and its really just there to add a bit more definition and shape to the waist because everything is so floaty.
The necklace is from New Look and has appeared in previous posts here and here.
This cream cross body bag is also from Penneys, If there was an engraving on the gold plate you would think this bag is far more expensive than it is.
Here is a closer look at my faith full nude heels, they are by the band Kate Appleby Knightsbridge.
Whats your favourite colour for summer?
