CURRENT SKINCARE ROUTINE

It’s been a while since I did a skincare update so I thought I would give you a quick rundown of what I have been using lately.

Let’s start with cleansers. These haven’t really changed since the last post. As much as I love to try new things, when I find products that work well for me I tend to stick with them, especially if they are not too pricey.

WP_20150127_009

Garnier Micellar Water – I use this for a quick cleanse in the morning to remove any residue left from the products applied the night before.

La Roche Posay Physiological Cleansing Gel – I use this to remove all traces of makeup in the evenings. It’s a gentle and effective cleanser.

L'Oreal Revitalift Peeling Night Lotion

Toner is a step I have been skipping for years until I started using and loved some other products from the L’Oreal Revitalift range. I saw a review of the L’Oreal Revitalift Night Peeling Lotion on Beaut.ie and decided to give it a go. I can’t say I’ve noticed much difference when using this so when it runs out, I’ll probably go back to skipping toner in favour of spending the cash saved on serums and moisturisers.

Serums and Moisturisers

L'Occitane Immortelle Precious Serum

I’ve recently repurchased the L’Occitane Immortelle Precious Serum. I used this ages ago and decided to give it a go again. I’ve only been using this since the week after Christmas so I’ll do a proper post on it when I have been using it for a few more weeks. Needless to say that I really like this serum, hence the repurchase.

Before Christmas I was using a trial size of Dermalogica Overnight Repair Serum. I didn’t have enough of this to do a proper review but my initial impressions from the trial size (5ml) were good. It’s a lovely oil that really hydrates the skin well and sinks in quickly.

I also had a trial (15ml) size of Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream, which I absolutely loved and am really tempted to splurge out on a full size. The texture is a light almost gel like cream, which is kind of cooling and refreshing to apply. A tiny bit is more than enough and it smells gorgeous. I kept this for night time and found that my skin looked really good in the mornings. Nicely hydrated and plumped, even over the Christmas, when healthy eating and drinking water went out the window.

So at the moment I am using L’Oreal Revitalift Global Care Day SPF 25 in mornings if I have used the toner the night before or the Magic Blur if I didn’t use the toner. At night I am using a trial size (25ml) of No 7 Protect & Perfect Night Cream, which I got in the Boots No 7 Christmas crackers.

No 7 Protect & Perfect Night Cream & Intense Eye Cream

My current eye cream, No 7 Protect & Perfect Intense Eye Cream (5ml), is also from the No 7 Christmas crackers. I have to say, so far I really like the two No 7 products and when I finish the trial sizes I’ll let you know my final thoughts on them. I have a funny feeling I will be purchasing the full size versions of these.

Any products here that you rate? Any suggestions for the future?

CURRENT SKIN CARE ROUTINE

I haven’t done a post on my skincare routine in a while and since I think my skin is in pretty good condition at the moment I figured I would tell you about what I am currently using. There are a few new products to tell you about but if you have seen my previous skincare posts you will recognise a few old reliables. As much as I love trying new products, when I find something that does everything that I need it to do I will repurchase it over and over again. I may be fickle with makeup but when it comes to my skin and finding a product that does my skin good, then I am faithful. Here is a look at what I am using:
Cleansers:
L'Oreal Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Micellar SolutionL’Oreal Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution – Instead of washing my face in the mornings this is what I use to remove any residue left from the products I applied the night before. It’s a quick and easy way to cleanse my face in the mornings when I am rushing and still groggy.

La Roche
La Roche Posay Physiological Cleansing Gel – this is one of my reliables that I have repurchased over and over again. I have reviewed it here so I won’t say much about it now except that it is a brilliant cleanser that quickly and gently removes all makeup. I keep one in my bathroom and one in my gym bag.
Serum:

The Body Shop Vitamine E Ovenight Serum-In-Oil
The body Shop Vitamin E – I only review this last week so no need to go on about it now again. It is a really good hydrating serum that seems to be keeping my usually oily skin in check so I use it both morning and night.
Eye Cream:

Olay Regenerist Luminous Eye Cream
Olay Regenerist Luminous Dark Circle Correcting Swirl – I’ve only been using this for just over two weeks now so I will review it properly in a few more weeks. I will say that first impressions are good; it’s a nice hydrating eye cream with light reflecting pigments, which brighten my dark circles.
Moisturiser:

Olay Regenerist Luminous Skin Tone Perfecting Cream
Olay Regenerist Luminous Skin Tone Perfecting Cream – again I have only been using this for just over two week and I will review it properly when I have been using it for a good five or six weeks. First impressions are good here also. I am really enjoying using this moisturiser. It’s really hydrating but also leaves a matte finish to my skin creating a perfect base for my foundation.
Masks:

Clinique Deep Cleansing Emergency Clay Mask
Clinique Deep Cleansing Emergency Clay Mask – I haven’t actually needed this in a while but this is the mask I turn to when my skin looks a bit spotty. I find it helps the spots that are already there heel quickly and generally clears my skin up so it stops breaking out.

Dermalogica Multi Vitamin Power Recovery Mask
Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Recovery Mask – this is just a lovely mask to use as a treat for my skin. It’s really hydrating and just really lovely to use when my skin is already in good condition. What I love about it thought is the way it sooths my skin when it is irritated, like from sun or (more likely) wind burn.
There you have it. There have been times when I have got carried away and ended up with loads of products like day cream, night cream, day eye cream, night eye cream, a hydrating serum, an anti-aging serum, lots of different cleansers… but for the moment I am trying to keep it simple and use as few products as possible. I look for products that can be used both morning and night time, along with cleansers that can clean my whole face including removing stubborn eye makeup while being gentle.
Do you use any of these products? What are your old reliable?

MY CURRENT DAILY SKINCARE ROUTINE

??????????????????????

It feels like it’s been a while since I last did a post on my skincare routine. I love reading these posts by other people but when it comes to listing out all the products that I use, I cringe a bit. It always seems like so many products and so much money for one little face. But you know what, why should I feel bad for wanting to look my best. A little care and attention to your appearance gives people the impression that you make an effort in everything you do. I have actually scaled the number of products down a bit. I try not to use separate products for night and day if I can help it. I prefer quality products that can be used both day and night, so the bathroom isn’t clogged up with products. That’s not to say that I won’t be tempted by some fancy all singing and all dancing night cream (actually I have one in mind already). The one thing I am missing right now is a good eye cream so feel free to recommend one that you think is brilliant.
First up, Cleansers:

??????????????????????

L’Oreal Skin Perfection Micellar Solution – I use a Micellar Solution to cleanse my skin in the mornings, it’s quick and easy.
La Roche Posay Physiological Foaming Water – this is what I use to remove my makeup at night. It’s quickly and easily removes all traces of makeup and it’s gentle on my skin.

Ginvera Green Tea Marvel Gel
Ginvera Green Tea Exfoliating Marvel Gel – I recently reviewed this here so I won’t say too much about it now except that I use it a couple times a week and it leaves my skin feeling amazing.

Neutrogena Spot Stress Control Scrub
Neutrogena Spot Stress Control Daily Scrub – I keep this one in my gym bag to remove makeup and sweat after a workout. I told you in my last skincare post here, that I thought Neutrogena’s Grapefruit Scrub smelled horrendous but worked great. This smells better; it has a mild cucumber scent but unfortunately doesn’t clean my skin nearly as well as the Grapefruit one.

Serum and Moisturiser:

Clarins Double Serum
Clarins Double Serum – I reviewed this before here, I liked it so much I bought it again recently. It hydrates my skin really well.

Clarins Multi-Active Day
Clarins Multi – Active Day – this is my first time using this. It’s aimed at 30 somethings and suits my combo to oily skin. I find its good enough for day and night, but if your skin is really dry you may need a heavier night cream.

So there it all is, do you use any of these products? Any little gems you think I should try next?

PACKING SKINCARE AND MAKEUP FOR HOLIDAYS

I am facing into the impossible task of trying to choose what products to bring with me on holidays to Portugal. I’m not a hand luggage only kinda gal and since I am going for ten days, I’ll need adequate supplies. We are staying in a five star (save your “ooh, no recession round here” because we got a good deal on alpharooms.com when we booked way back in January) so I expect the toiletries in the room will be decent but I still prefer to have my products with me. You never know how you might react to something when you factor in the extra heat of a sun holiday. So what’s making the cut?

Facial Skincare:

??????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????

Cleanser: La Roche Posey Physiological Foam Water, I reviewed the gel version of this here, I liked it so much I went to repurchase it but was tempted to try the foaming version for a change.
Serum & Moisturiser: L’Oreal Skin Perfection, I’ve only started using these so I will do a full review when I’ve given them a full trial, but initial impressions are very good.
Eye Cream: Sample size of Vichy LiftActiv Serum 10 Eyes & Lashes

Hair and Body:

???????????????????????????????

Body Wash: Dove Purely Pampering Shea Butter with Warm Vanilla
Shampoo and Conditioner Sheer Blonde Highlight Activating Moisturising range
Deodorant: Dove Invisible Dry Compressed

???????????????????????????????

Sun Screens: Piz Buin Tan Accelerator, SPF 15 & 6, believe it or not I can tan

Obviously I wouldn’t go to a warm country without adequate primers:

???????????????????????????????

MAC Prep & Prime for under foundation
MAC Prep & Prime BB Cream for occasional day use instead of foundation
MAC Paint Pot in Painterly for eyelid primer

The old reliables for a perfect base:

???????????????????????????????

Foundation: Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra 24 Hour

Now the fun stuff, eyes:

MAC Powder Blush in Peaches (my all-time favourite)

I know it seems like a lot but I am sure I am forgetting something (I might leave out some of the eyeshadows). Any other suggestions, anything important that I am leaving out?
