FACE OF THE DAY

It feels like it’s been a long time since I did a face of the day post and since I’ve made some changes in the products I use regularly I figured now is a good time to do an update. Since I’m doing this the day after a night out, I am trying to reduce the appearance of blotchiness and discolouration without packing on loads of slap. Here are the products used:
FACE:

Max Factor Colour Correctors, yellow for under the eyes and green for redness on the tops of my cheeks and sides of my nose.

MAC Mineralise Skinfinish Natural, setting powder

SOFT AND EASY DAYTIME FACE OF THE DAY

Today’s look is just a soft face of the day that is easy. These type looks make me feel like I am polished and put together without being over the top. No fear of “where does your wan think she is going with all that slap”. Most days I don’t really bother with doing my eyes or lips but instead reserve the full face of makeup for nights out, but now and again at the weekends when I have a bit more time I like to do soft look on  my eyes and maybe wear a tinted lip balm or gloss. Sounds like I am low maintenance, but we all know the truth.
To start I did a bit of prep work to create the illusion of a flawless base.

I used:
Max Factor CC Colour Corrector Pencil in green on some redness at the sides of my nose and on my chin
I also use the yellow CC pencil on the dark circles under my eyes and then applied some NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer over the areas where I used the Colour Corrector Pencils.

On my face:
I used a sample I had of Lancôme  Miracle Air De Teint foundation in 010.
I set my foundation with MAC Mineralise Skinfinish Natural in light. I use the Mineralise Skinfinish Natural in Medium Deep to contour my cheeks and then used MAC Fleur Power Powder Blush.

For my eyes:
I always use MAC Omega to fill in my brows.
I used Max Factor in Feral Brown in the outer corners and blended it in to the crease
Then I applied Max Factor Auburn Envy on the lids
I then lined my eyes with Feral Brown and applied Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara to my lashes.

To finish I lined my lips with MAC Subculture and loaded on some Max Factor Colour Elixir gloss in Enchanting Coral.

BRIGHT SUMMER LIPS: LAYERING LIP PRODUCTS

When the sun shines I am all about trying to create a more glossy makeup look, however since I have oily skin, I try to keep my skin matte and keep the gloss on my lips. Last week I reviewed Max Factor Colour Elixir Glosses and I have been using them ever since. Over the weekend I was playing around with layering them over lipsticks and pencils, so I decided to do a post on layering some of my favourite lip glosses over my favourite lipsticks and pencils.

First up we have Max Factor Colour Elixir in Luscious Berry over Clinique Chubby Stick in Curvy Candy and I lined my lips with MAC Lip Liner in Subculture. (My favourite look of the three)

This is Model Co Shine Ultra Lip Gloss in Strip Tease over Dior Addict in Jet Set and lips are lined with a sample size Make Up Forever Lip Liner in No 23. The liner is a bit dark in this one so I think a shopping trip for a new liner is called for. Jet Set and Strip Tease will be gorgeous together with the right liner or maybe no liner at all.

Finally is Max Factor Colour Elixir in Enchanting Coral over L’Oreal Glam Shine Balmy Gloss in Fall for Watermelon and the liner is Gosh Cosmetics in Nougat Crisp. This is beautifully bright for summer and I can’t wait to wear this look with a tan.

MAX FACTOR COLOUR ELIXIR GLOSSES: REVIEW AND PICTURES

Lipstick and lip balm hybrids have been around for a while now and most of them are in pencil form. I have purchased and reviewed a few of these as have many bloggers because we just went mad for them. Now thanks to Max Factor we have lip gloss and lip balm hybrids in the form of these beautiful Colour Elixir Glosses. What makes these Colour Elixir Glosses different from other glosses is that they have smoothing mineral oil and nourishing candelilla wax along with shine enhancers for a comfortable and glossy finish. I find that these are very comfortable to wear so much so that I have been wearing one every day since I got them. I usually only use lip balm during the day and the fact that I have swapped my usually heavy duty Avène Cold Cream lip balm for any of the Colour Elixir Glosses says a lot about how comfortable and hydrating they feel on my lips. I love that they don’t feel sticky like many glosses and it’s nice to have a glossy pop of colour on my lips. These can also be used over lipstick to give a full on shine to any lipstick.

There are six Max Factor Colour Elixir Glosses, three nudes and three vibrant colours. I have five of them, two of the nudes and the three vibrant colours (I’m missing Pristine Nude). Bear in mind that my natural lip colour is quite dark so nudes don’t really show up on me as anything more than glossy shine but if your lip colour is paler then you might get more of a hit of colour from the nude shades so the swatches below might give you more of an indication than the pictures of the glosses on my lips.

When I first looked at them laid out, I thought that Enchanting Coral would be my favourite, that beautiful coral colour was just calling to me. Them when I swatched them I thought that maybe Luxurious Berry might be my favourite because it looks like it might be a perfect “my lips but better” shade. After trying them on I think that it’s Polished Fuchsia that wins my vote, it’s so pretty and bright on. But I also love Radiant Rose and Lustrous Sand for a more subtle hit of shine when I am at work. Also the packaging of these is lovely and sleek and looks like it’s a far more expensive product than €9.99.
