I showed you this dress before in this post, but that was back in winter when I was showing you that you can still wear a sun dress in the winter. I mentioned that these little sun dresses can be really versatile because as well as wearing it as it was intended, with sandals when it’s sunny, you could also pair it with a blazer and pumps like I have here for work. I’m sitting here in work wearing my little sun dress, a blazer and pumps and I figured I should do a post so you can actually see what I was talking about in case you didn’t envision it working when I did the original post.
The dress and blazer are both from Penneys. I’m starting to think I should rename my blog to “What I got in Penneys”. Some of you must think I’m getting paid by them but I assure you I am not.
I could afford more expensive clobber if I was getting paid. The dress has a really pretty dragonfly print and bow detail. You can get another look at this cute blazer in this post. The navy leggings are from Swamp. I needed something on my legs because it’s a bit colder and raining today, but I find it hard to wear tights in summer; I just don’t like the feeling of them on my feet so leggings feature more often these days.
I got these super cute pumps while on holiday in Portugal last year. I absolutely love the vibrant teal and pink colours along with the strap and buckle detail. The colours of the pumps really tie in with the print of the dress. I showed you these pumps with Jeans in this previous post.
Do you wear sun dresses when it’s not sunny?
Well I can’t believe it’s Friday again, but I’m certainly not complaining. Ok so I have done pink and green before, here, but this is totally different. It’s teal green! Anyway, in case you haven’t noticed I like green in almost any shade and well obviously I like pink as well because I seem to have a fair amount pink clothes and accessories.
Today’s style is nothing new, we have seen many a celebrity or model stepping out in a biker jacket, skinny jeans and flowing scarf. This, however, is my shorter and wider take on it. You can also see I like to have a bit more fun with my colours.
The faux leather biker jacket is from New Look. There are loads of these biker jackets in the shops but I like this one because of all the gold hardware on it.
The plum jeans are Vero Moda’s Wonder jeggings and the top is just a plain white long sleeve t-shirt from Penneys.
I bought the scarf and the pumps on holidays in Portugal. It’s just a happy coincidence that they match. I didn’t plan it.
The bag is Love Moschino. It was a Christmas present, that I may have strongly hinted I wanted.
So what colours take up the most space in your wardrobe?
The recent cold snap seems to be easing and the last few days have been bright and sunny. All this sunshine has me giddy and loving soft, pretty clothes. Perhaps I’ve already overdosed on vitamin D because today not only am I not wearing boots but I’m not even wearing shocks! Me mother’ll kill me for stripping off so early; it’s not summer yet ya’know.
Soft pastels, pretty florals, watercolour prints, lace and crochet, they are all staples of the summer wardrobe and I’m phasing them in now.
This soft knit top with lace trim is from Swamp. It’s very light and transparent so I have a long sleeve top underneath, but when it’s warmer a vest top will be perfect to cover my modesty. The Blazer is from Zara (that’s right I’m out with just a blazer for a coat) and the Jeans are from New Look. I’ve been living in skinny jeans lately so I’m mixing it up with the boot cut, I’m mad like that.
This pretty scarf is from Pennys/Primark. The print is beautiful and bright, perfect for a sunny day. Pink isn’t really a favourite colour of mine but every time I wear it I get complimented on how nice pink is on me. Apparently it’s a good colour for me and who am I to argue with a compliment.
My shoes are old but loved Michael Kors. A wedge heel loafer style shoe is a good’un to have. They are really comfy and work well for off duty casual or smart work wear. I love that these ones make me really tall.
My bright pink watch is DKNY and previously been seen in this post. So how are you breaking in you summer gear?
I love trying out different colour combinations. There is nothing better than putting two colours together that you wouldn’t think would go and then absolutely loving the way they work with one another.
I’ve been in the habit of wearing purple and pink together a lot lately and I wanted to break free and try some new ideas. On a recent night out I wore this pink top from New Look and as luck would have it, this green necklace was sitting at top of my jewellery box. It was calling to me, try me with the pink top, please. I have to say, I think they look great together. They really compliment each other.
With that decided, I quickly grabbed my Michael Kors Clutch, which makes regular appearances on this blog (i.e. here, and here).
And of course a quick splattering of Angelica nail polish and I was good to go. I say splattering because I totally paint outside the lines. I’m brutal.
The only thing letting the outfit down is the shoes, as much as I love these ones from New Look, the ones I really need are these B Brian Atwood bad boys. They will be mine some day.
I love the crepe material and peplum style of this top. The necklace was bought while on holiday in Portugal and the Jeans are Dorothy Perkins.
I am well giddy because it’s the Friday of a long weekend and it’s also NOT baltic out. Spring is here, Yea. Today I well and truly have that Friday feeling after being a bit of a moody moo earlier this week. I’m all about joys and colour and the more colours I can pack on the better.
This ever so cute bird print top is from Awear and the cardigan is from New Look.
There is a lot more purple and pink in the top so I choose to wear it with a coral cardigan to really bring out the small bits of coral in the top and because these studded coral pumps from Pennys were begging to be worn.
The Jeans are my reliable petite skinny jeans from Dorothy Perkins so almost no bunching around the ankles of this shorty. Happy days (I’m easily pleases, sometimes).
This necklace has featured in a few previous posts (here and here) and is from Carraig Donn. As I said before, it really does work with almost everything.
How are you showing your Friday feeling?
