Well it’s been a scorcher this week and I have been loving it. Unfortunately the temperatures have eased off a bit for the weekend but at least it’s still nice enough out. This week’s outfit should provide some inspiration if you are heading out this weekend and want to keep cool while also hiding a bit of the lobster coloured skin. We all know many of you got totally burned this week. Yea the old “I was only out for a bit” without any sun cream. When will we learn?
This top is from River Island. I love the colours and print of this top but it is sheer so I wear it with a black vest top underneath.
The jeans are also from River Island and I am just loving almost everything in River Island at the moment. I am also big fan of distressed or ripped jeans and just can’t seem to have too many pairs. These are supposed to be ankle grazers but they are more or less normal length on me because I am, what my husband likes to call, a short arse.
The blazer is from Swamp and here it is in another recent post. The light chiffon and crepe fabric makes it perfect for this warm summer weather. It’s a nice light cover up for when it gets cooler in the evenings or if you need to hide scalded shoulders.
The necklace is from Carraig Donn and here is another look at it in a recent post.
These shoes are from Dune. I love them but they are total ankle breakers. One of these days I will get round to trying to get the heel shortened. I like the colour of them so much though and the colour ties in nicely with the top.
How will you be keeping cool this weekend? What are you going to wear if you head out?
Its Friday, it’s a bank holiday weekend, and there may be some sunshine, can I get a woohoo! It’s finally nice enough to wear ripped jeans without the fear of wind chill. Today’s outfit is a bit dressy and bit casual so it could take you from day to night or just relaxing in a beer garden, enjoying the sun and company of some friends.
The jacket is a recent purchase from Swamp. This jacket has a lovely crepe style front and chiffon dip hem back. It’s so lovely, it really dresses up what would be a casual outfit and it would also work great for wearing with a dress. It would really glam up a plain dress and it would be a great cover up to wear to a wedding.
The top is also a fairly recent purchase and it’s from New Look. The print is so cute and summery, I couldn’t leave it behind. It also has a cute button up back.
The jeans are from Penneys and they are old. They featured in a few posts last summer and will probably make a few appearances on the blog this summer.
The shoes are from Penneys. I do love a pointed toe court.
The bag was a gift with purchase from The Body Shop and it’s a great colour for summer.
I picked up the necklace while on holiday in Portugal.
How do you style ripped boyfriend jeans, do you like to dress them up or keep it casual?
Can you believe its Friday again; wow the weeks are flying by. At last we can finally see a bit of a stretch in the evenings (I know auld wan talk) and soon we will be able to brave the outdoors without massive puffer winter jackets. Today I am giving you a break from my new favourite colour, lime, but rest assured there is more of it coming soon. I thought I would show you this pretty dress with some coral accessorising because I really like coral and navy together.
I picked this dress up in Swamp in the January sales and it is from the brand Closet. I really like Closet dresses, they always just seem to fit me perfectly and it is the one brand I can buy without trying it on in the shop and feel confident that I will be happy with how it looks on when I get home. This dress has a lovely skater style shape with a cute butterfly print. The pockets give it a relaxed feel and look. The coral cardigan is from New Look. It’s actually quite a strong coral and could nearly pass for orange.
These pumps are from Penneys and hopefully it will only be a few more weeks before I can actually leave the house in cute little pumps, without my little feet getting soaked and frozen.
The boots are from the Amy Huberman range for Bourbon shoes. You may have noticed them in a few previous posts because I love the style and colour of them and they are really comfortable, always a plus.
The necklace is more of a pink coral and I picked it up in New Look a while back.
Do you have any Closet dresses? What colours do you like to wear with navy?
The moment I saw this long line blouse, I had to have it. It came in a few colours but surprise, surprise I settled on this duck egg blue. If you have been following this blog you will know I am partial to anything in the duck egg blue / mint green range. Obviously after buying it, I couldn’t wait to wear it. This is how I wore it on a recent night out.
This chiffon long line and hi lo blouse is from Vero Moda. I absolutely love the beading and sequins detail on the collar and shoulders.
Because of this detail I decided not to wear a necklace, as I didn’t want anything to take away from it. I kept it simple with these earrings from Pulse Accessories. Under the chiffon blouse I wore a long line black vest top, also from Vero Moda and the leggings are from Swamp.
I didn’t wear a belt on the night because I liked the floaty feel of the look but you could easily add a belt if you wanted a little definition at the waist.
The pointed toe courts are from New Look. You’ve probably seen them in previous post and you are very likely to seen them in future ones because I am really into the pointed toe court trend at the moment.
The blazer is from boohoo.com and the clutch is a favourite of mine and its Michael Kors.
It can be hard trying to decide what to wear to work in the summer. You want to be cool and comfortable but you also want to look smart and professional. I quite like this monochrome look with a long white shirt. The great thing about this look is it’s not just for the office. This look would work equally well for a day out shopping or meeting the girls for coffee. This is perfect for usual Irish summer temperatures as you could easily throw on a blazer or cardy if needed, but the shirt and leggings would be too warm and uncomfortable during the heat wave conditions we had a few weeks ago and I am hoping will return again.
This long line white shirt is from Penneys as is the belt. I can’t remember if this is the belt that came on the shirt because I usually change the belts. The leggings are from Swamp.
The turquois necklace is also from Penneys. I had to add some little pop of colour and this is just perfect. I’m liking the trend for wearing a chunky style necklace under the collar of your shirt.
The pointed toe court shoes are from New Look. I am loving these with just about everything at the moment.
How do you do smart but comfortable?
You may have noticed that I am all about coral this summer. In fairness it’s hard not to be. The weather may be a mixed bag at the moment but I have faith that the sunshine is going to make a comeback and coral is the perfect bright and summery colour to celebrate its return. When the sun shines all I want wear are bright and floaty fabrics.
This coral chiffon hi-lo skirt is from Penneys. I know, right; Penneys is just so on the money and for so little money.
The slinky mocha top is from Swamp.
The belt is also from Penneys and its really just there to add a bit more definition and shape to the waist because everything is so floaty.
The necklace is from New Look and has appeared in previous posts here and here.
This cream cross body bag is also from Penneys, If there was an engraving on the gold plate you would think this bag is far more expensive than it is.
Here is a closer look at my faith full nude heels, they are by the band Kate Appleby Knightsbridge.
Whats your favourite colour for summer?
After seeing the finished result of the outfit I put together for this post, I decided I really do need to have a proper look at what I actually already have in my wardrobe. I also need to go beyond just looking and start trying things on and trying them on with lots of other items, because sometimes you can be surprised by what ends up working together.
I got this tunic in Awear a while ago. I have only ever worn it once on a night out and I didn’t really like it on, so it’s been sitting on a hanger ever since. I think the problem was that I wore it with jeans and it just didn’t look right. However, when I thought about it again I tried it with these navy leggings from Swamp and I think they look really classy together. In fact I am surprised by how dressy this outfit looks with the leggings as I would usually only wear leggings for casual wear. But that is more so because I am not a big fan of my legs and I’m not sure leggings do them any favours.
I decided to break up the block of navy with coral because it’s a bright and pretty colour for Summer. The blazer is Cutie from iclothing.ie and you may have seen it in this previous post. I am afraid this blazer is one of the few items of clothing that I have purchased in a number of colours, because the cut of it is just really versatile.
The necklace is from New Look and has also been in a previous post here.
The nude wedge heel courts are from Oasis. I get great wear out of these because nude shoes go with everything and the wedge heel makes them really comfortable. You can see them again in this post. I was sorry I didn’t get the nude wedge courts in New Look last year so when these popped up in Oasis in spring I was on them like a fly on …well, you know.
So have you started searching in your own wardrobe yet? Have you found any gems?
