There is nothing better than finding a brand that is always the perfect fit, this post contains two brands that I can always rely on to fit perfectly. I can buy with confidence online or even buy in the sale without trying on and know it’ll be fine. Closet is a brand, whose clothes I can pick up anything in my size and it fits perfect. And for shoes my go to brand is Menbur, their courts never slip off my heel and they are so comfortable.
It’s been a while since I did a post with my new favourite colour for this summer, lime, so I picked this dress from Closet. Navy always works well with strong vibrant colours like the neon lime beading on this dress. Navy can also be more flattering than black on pale Irish skin tones. The beading means you can keep accessories to a minimum so a dress like this can be really handy when you are in a hurry as there is no need to rummage around looking for the perfect necklace. I also love the unusual strap placement on this dress and the way it goes into a V at the back.
You’ve probably already guessed that the shoes are from Menbur. Menbur shoes may be a bit pricey but since I’m a size 4, I often get lucky and find them in my size reduced in the sales. For the price you are getting great comfort. Noting makes me more smug than when my friends decide to move to a different pub when it is raining and I can power walk on and keep up with the boys, while the other girls are struggling and hobbling along behind in shoes they can barely sit in, never mind walk in. The lime may not be a perfect match to the neon beads on the dress but I still think these shoes work fine with the dress.
I don’t have a lime clutch (but I do have my eye on one in River Island) so I was going to use a neutral toned clutch, when I thought, one bright colour deserves another. This coral pink bag was a free gift with purchase from The Body Shop.
Have I convinced you to buy anything lime yet? Have you found any brands that are always your perfect fit?
Well we’ve made it through another week, it may have been a short one but I feel like I’ve packed loads in. Anyway the denim shirt is getting another outing. This time it’s being dressed up with a pretty pink midi for a fun evening look.
The denim shirt is from New Look and if you want to see it paired with jeans just check out this post.
The skirt is from Closet. It’s a full pleated midi skirt in a vibrant coral toned pink. Midi skirts are all over the place at the moment. It can be hard to find one in just the right length. The wrong length is when the hem is at the fullest part of your leg. I’m still not sure about this one length wise but I love the colour.
The statement necklace is from Penneys. Penneys have had some really great jewellery lately and at brilliant prices.
The clutch was a free gift with purchase from The Body Shop. It’s a beautiful bright coral toned pink, which is great for summer.
The shoe are my old reliable nude courts from Kate Appleby Knightsbridge.
What do you think of dressing up denim shirts with skirts? Have you bought into the midi trend?
I haven’t done a post on my skincare routine in a while and since I think my skin is in pretty good condition at the moment I figured I would tell you about what I am currently using. There are a few new products to tell you about but if you have seen my previous skincare posts you will recognise a few old reliables. As much as I love trying new products, when I find something that does everything that I need it to do I will repurchase it over and over again. I may be fickle with makeup but when it comes to my skin and finding a product that does my skin good, then I am faithful. Here is a look at what I am using:
L’Oreal Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution – Instead of washing my face in the mornings this is what I use to remove any residue left from the products I applied the night before. It’s a quick and easy way to cleanse my face in the mornings when I am rushing and still groggy.
La Roche Posay Physiological Cleansing Gel – this is one of my reliables that I have repurchased over and over again. I have reviewed it here so I won’t say much about it now except that it is a brilliant cleanser that quickly and gently removes all makeup. I keep one in my bathroom and one in my gym bag.
The body Shop Vitamin E – I only review this last week so no need to go on about it now again. It is a really good hydrating serum that seems to be keeping my usually oily skin in check so I use it both morning and night.
Olay Regenerist Luminous Dark Circle Correcting Swirl – I’ve only been using this for just over two weeks now so I will review it properly in a few more weeks. I will say that first impressions are good; it’s a nice hydrating eye cream with light reflecting pigments, which brighten my dark circles.
Olay Regenerist Luminous Skin Tone Perfecting Cream – again I have only been using this for just over two week and I will review it properly when I have been using it for a good five or six weeks. First impressions are good here also. I am really enjoying using this moisturiser. It’s really hydrating but also leaves a matte finish to my skin creating a perfect base for my foundation.
Clinique Deep Cleansing Emergency Clay Mask – I haven’t actually needed this in a while but this is the mask I turn to when my skin looks a bit spotty. I find it helps the spots that are already there heel quickly and generally clears my skin up so it stops breaking out.
Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Recovery Mask – this is just a lovely mask to use as a treat for my skin. It’s really hydrating and just really lovely to use when my skin is already in good condition. What I love about it thought is the way it sooths my skin when it is irritated, like from sun or (more likely) wind burn.
There you have it. There have been times when I have got carried away and ended up with loads of products like day cream, night cream, day eye cream, night eye cream, a hydrating serum, an anti-aging serum, lots of different cleansers… but for the moment I am trying to keep it simple and use as few products as possible. I look for products that can be used both morning and night time, along with cleansers that can clean my whole face including removing stubborn eye makeup while being gentle.
Do you use any of these products? What are your old reliable?
I’m a bit late to the party with this one. There was already loads of blog reviews on this by bloggers that it was sent to. The reviews were so positive that I decided to buy it for myself. I have been using it for a good six weeks now so I think it’s time to tell you my thoughts on it. One of the main things that I need to keep reminding myself is that when bloggers create a load of hype around a product it’s hard to keep perspective when you go and purchase it based on all that hype; you expect miracles. No matter how good a product is, when you first try it you always find yourself thinking “oh, is that it”. After a few weeks of continued use though I’ve come to see for myself why other bloggers went mad for it.
This is a serum and oil hybrid, hence the name. All you need is three or four drops warmed in the palms of your hands and pressed onto your face. It’s not greasy and is quickly absorbed by the skin. The promise is that you “Wake up to beautiful skin with new Vitamin E Overnight Serum-In-Oil, a technical innovation combining the power of a serum and oil to indulge, replenish and recharge skin with moisture overnight”. A lot of the blog hype that I had read had me believing that all this would happen after the first night. The truth is that after using it every night for a few weeks I did notice that my skin was starting to look pretty good. My skin is really well hydrated and there are no noticeable dehydration lines, unless I have been out drinking; hey it’s not a miracle worker and nothing can save your skin form the effects of booze.
There is a light scent kind of like baby powder, initially it irritated my eyes a bit but after a few uses I got used to it and it’s no longer a problem. All in all it’s a lovely serum to use and I often use it in the morning as well. Along with my moisturiser it creates a nice base for foundation and my skin doesn’t get oily during the day. I am happy I purchased this, for €22 it’s a really good serum. My skin is bright and clear, it’s lovely and soft and it’s really well hydrated, I couldn’t really ask for more.
Have you tried this serum yet? What is your favourite serum?
