FRIDAY STYLE: TWO FAVOURITE BRANDS

7d583248-04d0-46c4-9567-52795bac0093_jpeg

There is nothing better than finding a brand that is always the perfect fit, this post contains two brands that I can always rely on to fit perfectly. I can buy with confidence online or even buy in the sale without trying on and know it’ll be fine. Closet is a brand, whose clothes I can pick up anything in my size and it fits perfect. And for shoes my go to brand is Menbur, their courts never slip off my heel and they are so comfortable.

Navy Closet Dress with Lime beading

beading

It’s been a while since I did a post with my new favourite colour for this summer, lime, so I picked this dress from Closet. Navy always works well with strong vibrant colours like the neon lime beading on this dress. Navy can also be more flattering than black on pale Irish skin tones. The beading means you can keep accessories to a minimum so a dress like this can be really handy when you are in a hurry as there is no need to rummage around looking for the perfect necklace. I also love the unusual strap placement on this dress and the way it goes into a V at the back.

Menbur Lime Courts

You’ve probably already guessed that the shoes are from Menbur. Menbur shoes may be a bit pricey but since I’m a size 4, I often get lucky and find them in my size reduced in the sales. For the price you are getting great comfort. Noting makes me more smug than when my friends decide to move to a different pub when it is raining and I can power walk on and keep up with the boys, while the other girls are struggling and hobbling along behind in shoes they can barely sit in, never mind walk in. The lime may not be a perfect match to the neon beads on the dress but I still think these shoes work fine with the dress.

Coral Body Shop Clutch

I don’t have a lime clutch (but I do have my eye on one in River Island) so I was going to use a neutral toned clutch, when I thought, one bright colour deserves another. This coral pink bag was a free gift with purchase from The Body Shop.

Have I convinced you to buy anything lime yet? Have you found any brands that are always your perfect fit?

FRIDAY STYLE: NAVY SHIRT DRESS

a9592e27-ce7c-4733-81c0-44ea262650db_jpeg

Well it’s been a short week and we have another bank holiday to look forward to. Not to mention that there has been a fair bit of sunshine around this week. Maybe I’m overdosing on vitamin D here, but I am full of the joys this week. In my head I am already planning loads of summer outfits for future Friday Style posts.

Navy Oasis Shirt Dress

I have to admit that I love a good shirt dress. When you get the right one they can be so versatile. I am wearing this one with navy tights and heels because this is how I wear it to work. It would also look great with heels but without the tights for a night out or for a relaxed summer’s eve look pair it with some strappy sandals. You could also wear it with some wedges for a day of shopping or meeting the girls for coffee. This one is from Oasis and I love the added detail of the double collar along with the gold buttons and belt buckle, which make it easy to dress up. The relaxed and comfortable shape mean I can also dress it down. The material is lovely and soft and it doesn’t hold creases.

SelfTimer24_04_2014 09_16_21

Here I have paired it with a denim jacket I got in New Look a few years ago but sometimes I wear it with a blazer for a smarter look or with my faux leather biker to keep it more casual but slightly edgy.

Coral Penneys Courts

These pointed toe coral courts are from Penneys.

Coral Penneys Statement Necklace

This coral statement necklace is also from Penneys. Last weekend I picked up three great statement necklaces in Penneys all at €5 each, I mean how could you leave them behind.

WP_20140424_003

This clutch was a “free gift with purchase” from The Body Shop recently. A lot of times those free bags end up being something I never use but the colour of this one is perfect for summer so it should get used fairly often.

What do you think of shirt dresses? How do you like to style them?

FRIDAY STYLE: NAVY BUTTERFLY PRINT DRESS WITH CORAL

Can you believe its Friday again; wow the weeks are flying by. At last we can finally see a bit of a stretch in the evenings (I know auld wan talk) and soon we will be able to brave the outdoors without massive puffer winter jackets. Today I am giving you a break from my new favourite colour, lime, but rest assured there is more of it coming soon. I thought I would show you this pretty dress with some coral accessorising because I really like coral and navy together.

Navy Swamp Dress
I picked this dress up in Swamp in the January sales and it is from the brand Closet. I really like Closet dresses, they always just seem to fit me perfectly and it is the one brand I can buy without trying it on in the shop and feel confident that I will be happy with how it looks on when I get home. This dress has a lovely skater style shape with a cute butterfly print. The pockets give it a relaxed feel and look. The coral cardigan is from New Look. It’s actually quite a strong coral and could nearly pass for orange.

Coral Penneys Pumps
These pumps are from Penneys and hopefully it will only be a few more weeks before I can actually leave the house in cute little pumps, without my little feet getting soaked and frozen.

Conac Bourbon Ankle Boots
The boots are from the Amy Huberman range for Bourbon shoes. You may have noticed them in a few previous posts because I love the style and colour of them and they are really comfortable, always a plus.

Coral New Look Necklace
The necklace is more of a pink coral and I picked it up in New Look a while back.

Do you have any Closet dresses? What colours do you like to wear with navy?

STYLE: CORAL BLOUSE AND SKATER SKIRT WITH SOME SNEEKY LEOPARD

The skater skirt has been around for a while now but I only bought one recently. I have a few skater style dresses but this is my first skater skirt. The great thing about a dress is it’s a whole outfit in one go; all you need is a few accessories and your done. There is no need to go rummaging through your entire wardrobe to find something to go with it. With a skirt however, you have the whole, does it match, does it work, and does the first top I had on look better with it. Anyway I’ve been thinking about my skater skirt for a while and this is what I came up with.

??????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????

It’s a fairly versatile outfit that would easily take you from day to night.

The coral top is from Penneys and the colour is quite vibrant. I thought the strong colour would contrast nicely with the black skirt.

??????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????

The belt is also from Penneys and I like how it ties in with the gold buttons on the blouse. The skater skirt is from boohoo.com

???????????????????????????????
I really like the way leopard print looks with coral and orange tones. The leopard print shoes are from Dunnes.

???????????????????????????????

The cream and gold necklace is from Penneys.

STYLE: CORAL HIGH LOW CHIFFON SKIRT

??????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????

You may have noticed that I am all about coral this summer. In fairness it’s hard not to be. The weather may be a mixed bag at the moment but I have faith that the sunshine is going to make a comeback and coral is the perfect bright and summery colour to celebrate its return. When the sun shines all I want wear are bright and floaty fabrics.
This coral chiffon hi-lo skirt is from Penneys. I know, right; Penneys is just so on the money and for so little money.

The slinky mocha top is from Swamp.

The belt is also from Penneys and its really just there to add a bit more definition and shape to the waist because everything is so floaty.

???????????????????????????????

The necklace is from New Look and has appeared in previous posts here and here.

???????????????????????????????

This cream cross body bag is also from Penneys, If there was an engraving on the gold plate you would think this bag is far more expensive than it is.

Here is a closer look at my faith full nude heels, they are by the band Kate Appleby Knightsbridge.
Whats your favourite colour for summer?

FRIDAY STYLE: NAVY TUNIC WITH CORAL

??????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????

After seeing the finished result of the outfit I put together for this post, I decided I really do need to have a proper look at what I actually already have in my wardrobe. I also need to go beyond just looking and start trying things on and trying them on with lots of other items, because sometimes you can be surprised by what ends up working together.

??????????????????????
I got this tunic in Awear a while ago. I have only ever worn it once on a night out and I didn’t really like it on, so it’s been sitting on a hanger ever since. I think the problem was that I wore it with jeans and it just didn’t look right. However, when I thought about it again I tried it with these navy leggings from Swamp and I think they look really classy together. In fact I am surprised by how dressy this outfit looks with the leggings as I would usually only wear leggings for casual wear. But that is more so because I am not a big fan of my legs and I’m not sure leggings do them any favours.

??????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????

I decided to break up the block of navy with coral because it’s a bright and pretty colour for Summer. The blazer is Cutie from iclothing.ie and you may have seen it in this previous post. I am afraid this blazer is one of the few items of clothing that I have purchased in a number of colours, because the cut of it is just really versatile.

???????????????????????????????
The necklace is from New Look and has also been in a previous post here.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
The nude wedge heel courts are from Oasis. I get great wear out of these because nude shoes go with everything and the wedge heel makes them really comfortable. You can see them again in this post. I was sorry I didn’t get the nude wedge courts in New Look last year so when these popped up in Oasis in spring I was on them like a fly on …well, you know.

So have you started searching in your own wardrobe yet? Have you found any gems?

FRIDAY STYLE: BOYFRIEND JEANS DRESSED UP FOR A DAY OF SHOPPING

When I head out for a proper day of shopping, I like to dress nice. Now if I’m just on a mission to get something specific like tights or heading into Penneys to see what’s cheap and cheerful then it doesn’t matter what I wear. But if I’m out to treat myself to some real retail therapy then I like to make the effort. There are two reasons for this: one, when you look good you feel good. If you start the day out in a frumpy tracksuit and feeling negative and you are in a downer mood, then of course nothing will fit right or suit you. It’s always better to start the day in a positive mood, feeling good about yourself and I always feel better about myself when I have made a bit of an effort. The second reason is when you are dressed well, sales assistants tend to be nicer to you. Unfortunately this is not a rule, some stroppy mares will always be stroppy mares. However, I am a people watcher and I can’t help but notice that sales assistants are generally nicer to people that are dressed stylishly as opposed to those in still in their pj’s.

?????????????????????? ??????????????????????

So this is what I wore for a day of shopping on Saturday. The vibrant coral blazer is from Cutie and I bought it from iclothing.ie. I love the shape of these blazers, the cropped sleeves and tailored fit make it sit well with almost anything. They can look really dressy with a dress or smart casual with jeans and they come in loads of colours.

?????????????????????? ??????????????????????

The pussy bow blouse you have seen before in this post when the weather was colder. The colour of the leopard print is quite soft so it’s a pretty blouse and contrasts nicely with the bold colour of the blazer. The blouse is from Penneys.

These slim fit boyfriend jeans are from Zara. Because they are a very casual style, I love trying to dress them up. This outfit would look far dressier with heels but because I’m off to stroll through the shops, comfy shoes are a must for all that walking. These wedge heel, peep toe, canvas courts are a few years old but I got them in Paul Byron.

???????????????????????????????

Are you up styling boyfriend Jeans or keeping them relaxed with a t-shirt and flip flops? How do you like to dress for a day of retail therapy?

Friday Style: Pink, Purple & Coral Love

I am well giddy because it’s the Friday of a long weekend and it’s also NOT baltic out. Spring is here, Yea. Today I well and truly have that Friday feeling after being a bit of a moody moo earlier this week. I’m all about joys and colour and the more colours I can pack on the better.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This ever so cute bird print top is from Awear and the cardigan is from New Look.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

There is a lot more purple and pink in the top so I choose to wear it with a coral cardigan to really bring out the small bits of coral in the top and because these studded coral pumps from Pennys were begging to be worn.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The Jeans are my reliable petite skinny jeans from Dorothy Perkins so almost no bunching around the ankles of this shorty. Happy days (I’m easily pleases, sometimes).

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This necklace has featured in a few previous posts (here and here) and is from Carraig Donn. As I said before, it really does work with almost everything.
